"BUFFALO RUNNERS", 30" x 50", oil on canvas, gallery-wrapped, was actually in my mind for some time before I painted it. Once I had read "The Oregon Trail", by Francis Parkman, though, the movie was rolling so vividly through my head that there was no choice but to let the painting happen.
